Sunset Beach Drive

This week, we take you on a relaxing drive of the North Oregon Coast at sunset.
According to the Fort Stevens FAQ as of 8/5/2016, “Vehicles are allowed on the ocean shore from Gearhart to the South Jetty of the Columbia River {Red Line – September 16-April 30}. They are prohibided on the beach south of the 10th Street beach access in Gearhart, and from the Peter Iredale beach access to the South Jetty from noon-midnight May 1-September 15 {Green Line}. Only “street legal” vehicles are allowed on the beach, no motorcycles or off-highway vehicles. Four-wheel drive is strongly recommended. Vehicle access points are located at Fort Stevens near the Peter Iredale Beach, Sunset Beach, Del Rey Beach, and in Gearhart at 10th Street.”

Our Tips for Visiting
- Four wheel drive and a tall ground clearance is highly recommended.
- Watch out for people, crazy drivers, trees or other hazards.
- The speed limit for driving on the beach is 25 mph.
